In addition to the annual multi-day Lake Placid Film Forum (LPFF), programs of the Adirondack Film Society (AFS) include the mostly monthly AFS Screening Series at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, a Silent Film Festival and filmmaking events that have been conducted as part of the LPFF—”Sleepless in Lake Placid,” the 24-hour undergraduate college student competition, and “North Country Shorts,” open to regional residents of all ages.

The AFS played an indispensable role in helping launch the “Go Digital, Go Dark” campaign to raise the necessary funds to ensure that North Country movie theaters had the digital equipment to continue to play first-run movies. The Film Society then served as the non-profit conduit for grant funds awarded to the Strand Theatre in Schroon Lake, and plans are afoot for the AFS to do some special programming at the Strand in the summer of 2016.
